The SPAA Dissertation Award will recognize top early-career scientists in the field. The award will be presented annually at the SPAA business meeting.
Nominations
Eligibility: All nominees must have their dissertations published within 24 months (2 years) of the application date.
Selection committee: The selection committee will consist of the SPAA Steering Committee and will be led by the Steering Committee Chair.
The deadline: Sep 1st (annually).
Nominations will be submitted to the SPAA Steering Committee Chair at bender@cs.stonybrook.edu. The nomination will require an endorsement letter containing a statement of at most 500 words by the nominee’s PhD advisor or a thesis committee member, addressing why the dissertation should receive the award. No letter is required from the candidates.
The award is purely merit-based, decided by the quality of the research work in the thesis, and how likely the work is to have a significant impact on the SPAA community and beyond in the future.
Notification date: Nov 1 (annually).
The winner will get free registration and a framed certificate.
